Dominic’s daughter sneered. “I think the only way you’d help is by leaving. She’s taken quite a few pills because of you. Too many, I might wager, if she’s wondering if you’re a hallucination.”
“Jane, stop. Leave her alone,” said David.
“Yeah, Jane, mom will be fine,” said Jared.
“And where did she get them?” asked Dominic.
“She used to get them from her doctor, the one you shared, but he dumped her after I told him what was happening,” said Jane.
“When was this?”
“It’s both inconceivable and so typical that you had no idea,” said Jane. “Even after I paid for her to go to rehab.”
“You did what?” asked Dominic. Jared and David were silent.
“Ridiculous, all of you.” She stood, bumping the table and overturning glasses.
“Jane, please,” said Jared.
She pointed a rigid finger at Dominic: “I will bury you alive if I have to.” She left the apartment.
“You really had no idea?” asked Jared.
“No, Jared, I didn’t. How would I have known?” asked Dominic.
“Because she’s your wife? Because you lived together?”
“She never acted like this,” Dominic said.
“Who’s acting like what?” asked Martha. “Julie Andrews?”
“Damn it, Martha, can’t even pull yourself together for your own family. Such a useless, fat woman! We had a better time when you weren’t talking at all.” He stood, took his wife’s arm, and walked her to their room. She wouldn’t fall into step with him, twirling instead to the tempo of an imaginary waltz.
“Has he said anything about power of attorney or his will?” Jared asked David in hushed tones while their father was out of earshot.
“No, but you know that if a person gets resurrected their will doesn’t go into effect, right? They’re treated like the living person they were.”
“I’m a lawyer, David. I just want to know why he cut me from it.”
“You weren’t in the will?”
“No, I wasn’t.
“Was what you said about wanting dad to come back a lie?” asked David.
I'm going crazy trying to figure out who is crazy and who is sane this drama. The crazies and the sanes seem to switch in every episode. I hate Jared, then I understand him. I like Jane, then she's just mad at everyone. At the end of each episode I'm in suspense.
